When your current version of Windows reaches the end of servicing – the point at which Microsoft no longer supports that version – Windows 10 Install New Updates, whether you like it or not. For Home and Pro users, this is usually 18 months after the release of the current version of Windows.
However, this means that in theory it is possible to completely skip updates to some features. Since they are released approximately every six months, you can install one version, opt out of the next released version, and then install another one.
However, it should be noted that the Download and Install Now option only applies to feature updates, however, all Windows 10 users can also pause any minor updates that Microsoft releases between major feature updates for up to 35 days.
To do this, go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update and click Pause for 7 Days. After seven days, you can do it a few more times, a total of five, so you can delay it for 35 days.
New features and capabilities. What is important to know about the Windows 10 spring update
The May 2019 Update also includes a security system that will remove problematic updates that harm your PC. If your computer does not start properly after installing the update, Windows will detect the problem and try to fix it. If that fails, it will uninstall a recent Windows 10 update or driver update that might be causing the problem and block re-installation for 30 days.
All this is due to loud and constant complaints: people do not want to be forced to update to a new version of the operating system (or even a minor update for it), because the new version may not be ready for prime time and may be less stable than that. which they use. Finally, you can make sure that any new OS version you install will be at least as stable and preferably more stable than the previous iteration.
This is by far the most important feature coming in the Windows 10 May 2019 Update, but you actually don’t need to install the May 2019 Update to get it. Microsoft says that by the end of May, the same update options will be available in Windows 10 version 1803, April 2018 Update and version 1809, October 2018 Update.
In the 1903 version, there was another small but nice addition related to updates. You can ask Windows to warn you when you want to restart your computer to complete the update through the system tray icon. Go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows Update> Advanced Options and under Show notification when your computer requires a restart to complete an update, move the slider to On.
Separating Cortana and Windows Search
The second most important change in this Windows update is Microsoft’s decision to separate the Cortana digital assistant and the Windows search box. In the past, whether you performed a voice search or typed a query, Cortana kicked in, and the interface you got the results from was the same whether you typed or spoke.
Cortana and the search box have been separated. To search Cortana, you can say “Hey Cortana” and say your query, click the Cortana icon to the right of the search box and speak, or press Windows Key + C and speak. All other searches are performed by Windows Search.
The results you get vary depending on whether you search in Cortana or Windows. If you ask Cortana, you get one specific answer, and Cortana reads the results and displays them on the screen. Cortana’s results interface is compact and simple – text on a black background. Surprisingly, many of the results are not clickable. For example, when you ask to see the next event on your calendar, Cortana will give you the name, location, and time, but not the details. You won’t be able to click the results to see more detailed information, such as meeting notes.
With Windows Search, you get the richer search results interface you’re used to, showing multiple search results from your PC and from the Internet. For the most part, the results interface is identical to the previous version of Windows, with some cosmetic differences. For example, the top border is black, not white, and the Cortana sidebar does not appear on the left. But functionally it is the same as before.
New features Windows 10 spring update
However, there are significant differences when you first place your cursor in the search box before you start typing your query. Do this and you’ll see a neatly organized screen that lets you launch your most used applications, open your most recently used files, open the timeline, and more. The design is so simple and straightforward that you can use this screen.
Seek and find
With this update, the search box becomes more efficient when searching through your files, that is, if you store files in locations other than normal. Until the update came out, Windows 10 looked for files by default in libraries and folders such as OneDrive, Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, Videos, and Desktop. But if you stored files elsewhere, Windows ignored them.
